Sapulpa

City and administrative headquarters of Creek County, northeastern Oklahoma, 19 km/12 mi southwest of Tulsa; population (1990) 18,100. It is a processing and shipping centre for agricultural, livestock, oil, and gas producers. Products include glass, bricks, pottery, tiles, furnaces, tanks, and drilling equipment.

It was settled as farmland in 1850 and grew with the coming of the railway in 1886.
