Saratoga County

County in eastern New York State, bounded to the east by the Hudson River and to the south by the Mohawk River, lying partially in the Adirondack Mountains, and containing Saratoga Lake and part of Great Sacandaga Lake; area 2,098 sq km/810 sq mi; population (1990) 181,300. Its capital is Ballston Spa. The county is known for its resorts, particularly Saratoga Springs. Largely rural, it has dairy farming, market gardening, and livestock and poultry raising.

There is some suburban development in the south, in the Albany area, and industry in such places as South Glens Falls, Schuylerville, Mechanicville, Corinth, Waterford, Saratoga Springs, and Ballston Spat. The Saratoga National Historical Park is along the Hudson.
