Satu Mare

Capital of Satu Mare county, northwest Romania, on the River Someş, near the Hungarian and Ukrainian borders, 174 km/109 mi northwest of Cluj Napoca; population (2002) 115,100. Farm machinery, rolling stock, textiles, and processed food are manufactured, and the chief commodities are linen and wine.
