Savile Row

Street in London, England, situated north of Piccadilly. It is a centre of the tailoring trade and synonymous with fine-quality work. It was built in about 1735 by the 3rd Earl of Burlington, and named after his wife, Dorothy Savile, who died in 1717. For many years it was the favoured business location for leading members of the medical profession.

The playwright Richard Sheridan died in Savile Row in 1816.
