Sayão, Bidú (1902–1999)

Brazilian soprano. After study with Jean de Reszke, she sang Rosina in Rome (1926). She appeared widely in Italy and South America, and gave Lakmé at Washington, in 1936. She made her New York debut at the Metropolitan Opera House in 1937, as Manon. Other New York roles were Juliette, Mélisande, Norina, Zerlina, and Susanna. She sang in concert from 1952, and retired in 1957.
