Schäffer, Bogusław (1929– )

Polish composer. He studied in Kraków with Artur Malawski and musicology in Warsaw with Zdzisław Jachimecki. For some of his works he has used graphic notation.

Orchestral and chamber

Scultura for orchestra; Monosonata for 24 string instruments; Topofonica for 40 instruments; Equivalenze sonore for percussion instruments; concerto for harpsichord, percussion, and orchestra; Four Movements for piano and orchestra; Tertium datum for clavichord and chamber orchestra; ten symphonies (1960–79); three piano concertos (1957, 1967, 1988); two harpsichord concertos (1958, 1961); violin concerto (1963); Kesukaan for strings (1978); concertos for guitar (1984), for organ and violin (1984), for flute and harp (1986), for saxophone (1986), for violin and three oboes (1987); six string quartets (1954–73).
