Schack (or Žák), Benedict (1758–1826)

Bohemian tenor and composer. A member of Schikaneder's opera company, he was the first to sing the role of Tamino in Mozart's Magic Flute. Mozart wrote piano variations on a song probably by him, ‘Ein Weib ist das herrlichste Ding’ (K613).
