Schaller, George B(eals) (1933– )

German-born mammalogist. Schaller became a research zoologist at the New York Zoological Society in 1966. He wrote highly acclaimed books on African and Asian mammals based on his own pioneering studies. In 1980 he was awarded the World Wildlife Fund Gold Medal for his contributions to the understanding and conservation of endangered species.
