Scherchen-Hsiao, Tona (1938– )

Swiss-born French composer. She studied with her father, Hermann Scherchen, with Hans Werner Henze at Salzburg, with Messiaen in Paris 1963–65, and with György Sándor Ligeti in Vienna.

Works Orchestral Shen for six percussion (1968); Khouang for orchestra (1968); Tao for contralto and orchestra (1971); Vague T'ao for orchestra (1975); L'Invitation au voyage for chamber orchestra (1977); L'illegitime for orchestra and tape (1986).
