Schereschewsky, Samuel (Isaac Joseph) (1831–1906)

Lithuanian missionary and translator. Schereschewsky travelled to the USA in 1854 and, after seminary training, went to China as a missionary in 1859. He was Protestant Episcopal Bishop of Shanghai, 1877–83, and translated the Bible and the Book of Common Prayer into Chinese.
