Schicht, Johann Gottfried (1753–1823)

German harpsichordist and composer. He studied law at Leipzig University but turned to music. He was engaged as harpsichordist by J A Hiller for his concerts, later succeeding him as their conductor In 1810 he was appointed cantor at St Thomas's Church.
