Schindler, Alexander M (1925–2000)

German-born rabbi and organization executive. Schindler emigrated to the USA in 1937. In 1959 he became associate rabbi at Temple Emmanuel in Worcester, Massachusetts, thereafter becoming president of the Union of American Hebrew Congregations. From 1976 to 1978 he was president of the Conference of Major Jewish Organizations.
