Schlick, Barbara (1943– )

German soprano. She sang widely in concert from 1966, notably with Adolf Scherbaum's Baroque Ensemble. She gave other concerts with the chamber orchestra Paul Kuentz (with which she made a tour of the USA, in 1972) and the Monteverdi Choir, under Jürgen Jürgens. She sang in C P E Bach's Die letzten Leiden at the 1988 York Festival, appeared in a Haydn series at the South Bank, London, and in Mozart's Requiem under Ton Koopman. She was also admired in Passions and cantatas by J S Bach, Vivaldi's Gloria, and Handel's Messiah. Her recordings include Handel's Cleopatra (in Giulio Cesare/Julius Caesar), conducted by René Jacobs, and Rodelinda, under Michael Schneider.
