Schmelzer, (Johann) Heinrich (c. 1623–1680)

Austrian composer. He was chamber musician at the Austrian court in Vienna from 1649, assistant conductor from 1671, and first conductor from 1679. He was the father of Andreas Schmelzer.

ballet music for about 40 operas by Giovanni Battista Draghi and others.

Other

Missa nuptialis and other church music; instrumental sonatas, including the Sonatae unarum fidium for violin (1664) and coninuo, the earliest of their kind; trumpet fanfares.
