Schneider, Romy (1938–1982)

Austrian film actor. Initially known for her wholesome adolescent beauty she took on more substantive and ambitious roles from the 1960s. She starred in Boccaccio '70 (1962), Der Prozess/The Trial (1963), and Ludwig (1972).

She became a popular star in the mid-1950s in the role of ‘Sissi’, the Habsburg empress Elizabeth (1837–1898), in a trilogy of sentimental films.
