Pont-Aven School

Group of painters, led by Paul Gauguin and Emile Bernard (1868–1941), who worked in the town of Pont-Aven in Brittany in the 1880s and 1890s. Their use of pure colour and concern with conveying the mood of a scene were later to influence both les Nabis and the Symbolists.
