Schorsch, Ismar

Schorsch, Ismar (1935– )

German-born scholar and educator. In 1938 Schorsch became a rabbi at the Jewish Theological Seminary in New York. He then served as a chaplain in the US Army before joining the seminary as a professor of history. In 1986 he became the seminary's chancellor. He helped to found the Seminary for Judaic Studies in Jerusalem.
