Schuback, Thomas (1943– )

Swedish conductor. He studied in Stockholm where from 1971 he conducted at the Royal Opera. He led productions at Drottningholm, including Monteverdi's L'incoronazione di Poppea/The Coronation of Poppaea, and L'arbore di Diana/Diana's Tree by Martín y Soler. He conducted Gluck's Paride ed Elena/Paris and Helen and Haeffner's Electra, and visited the Barbican Centre, London, with the company, in 1993. He was musical director of the Lyric Opera of Queensland from 1982, and has been a guest conductor at San Diego, Sydney, and Copenhagen. He made many concert appearances, and has been recital accompanist to Barbara Bonney and Hakon Hagegard.
