Schumann, Patricia (1954- )

US soprano. After study at Santa Cruz University she sang with San Francisco Opera. She made later appearances with the New York City Opera, and in Paris and Venice. She toured with the Peter Brook version of Bizet's Carmen and sang in Brussels from 1983, as Mozart's Dorabella (Così fan tutti/All Women Do It) and Zerlina (Don Giovanni). She appeared at St Louis in 1986, in the first US performance of Rossini's Il Viaggio a Reims/The Journey to Rheims, in 1989 she and sang Monteverdi's Poppea at the Paris Châtelet. She made her debuts in New York (at the Metropolitan Opera House) and London (at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden), as Donna Elvira in Don Giovanni(1990 and 1992).
