Schwab, Charles R (1937– )

US stockbroker. Born in Sacramento, California, and educated at Stanford University, Schwab established his own brokerage house in San Francisco in 1971 and has built the Charles Schwab Corp. into one of the nation's leading brokerages by offering discount fees and other inducements to small investors. He is the author of How to Be Your Own Stockbroker (1984).
