Schwarz, Hanna (1943– )

German mezzo-soprano. She studied at Hamburg and Essen, making her debut at Hanover, in 1970. From 1973 she was a member of the Hamburg Opera, and she made many guest appearances in Europe and North America. She sang under Boulez in the 1976 Bayreuth Ring (as Erda) and in the Paris first performance of the completed version of Berg's Lulu (1979). Other roles included Fricka, Jocasta, and Brangaene.
