Scull, Robert C (1917–1986)

US businessman and art collector. A freelance illustrator and then an industrial designer, Scull inherited a taxi firm from his father-in-law. He built a considerable collection of pop art, establishing the Robert and Ethel Scull Foundation in 1965 to encourage young artists. Scull later remarried, but he continued to collect contemporary and he established a second foundation.

Scull was an able businessman who attracted much publicity to his business. His taxi firm, the Super Operating Corporation, received much public attention when Amy Vanderbilt was hired to give the drivers courtesy lessons.
