Scuppernong River

Scuppernong River

Short estuarial river in eastern North Carolina, on the south side of Abermarle Sound, southeast of Edenton. The town of Columbia (population (1990) 800, capital of Tyrrell County) is on it. The river has given its name to a type of green grape.

A scuppernong is a silvery amber-green muscadine grape variety, Vitis rotundifolia, named after the Scuppernong river in North Carolina.
He was born in Cross Landing, near the Scuppernong River in Tyrrell County.
