Seaford

Resort in East Sussex, England, 13 km/8 mi west of Eastbourne on the South Downs; population (2001) 22,800. The Seven Sisters chalk cliffs are nearby.

Seaford was once the outlet for the lower River Ouse and an important port, but in 1570 a great storm shifted the course of the lower Ouse westwards, resulting in the development of a new port, Newhaven.
