delegated legislation

In Britain, detailed legislation made by government ministers by means of, for example, statutory instruments and orders, under the authority of acts of Parliament. If a minister acts outside his or her authority (ultra vires), a court may declare the legislation void.

I FOUND Kevin Culley's letter "Now wow matters", (EG Aug 4), another example of his failure to understand how a Planning Committee works and the restrictions placed on the committee by both primary and secondary legislation from national government.
