Seiffert, Peter (1954- )

German tenor. He studied in Dusseldorf where he sang first with the Deutsche Oper. From 1982 he appeared with the Deutsche Oper at Berlin, as Lensky, Huon (Oberon), and Faust. He sang with Munich Opera from 1983, notably as Lohengrin, and in 1984 made his debuts at La Scala, Milan and with Vienna Staatsoper. He first appeared in London at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden in 1988, as Parsifal. He sang Strauss's Emperor with the Bayerische Staatsoper, at the opening of Japan's first opera house (Nagoya 1992). He was Florestan with the Glyndebourne company, at the Festival Hall, London (1995).
