Sekles, Bernhard (1872–1934)

German composer. He studied at the Hoch Conservatory at Frankfurt under Knorr and others. He conducted for a time at Heidelberg and Mainz, and then joined the teaching staff at his former school.

operas Schahrazade (after the Arabian Nights, 1917), and Die zehn Küsse (1926), burlesque Die Hochzeit des Faun, dance play Der Zwerg und die Infantin (after Wilde).

symphonic poem Aus den Gärten der Semiramis, Kleine Suite, Die Temperamente for orchestra; passacaglia and fugue for organ and orchestra; chamber and piano music, songs; serenade for 11 instruments; passacaglia and fugue for string quartet; cello and piano sonata; piano pieces; songs.
