Selsey

Fishing village in West Sussex, England, 11 km/7 mi south of Chichester; population (2001) 9,900. The Selsey peninsula has yachting and beaches, and there is a wildlife sanctuary at Pagham Harbour. The headland of Selsey Bill projects to the south of the village.

Selsey has been severely affected by coastal erosion. It was a Saxon bishopric before 1075, but the cathedral is now beneath the sea.
