Seminole County

County in east-central Florida, bounded to the north and east by the St Johns River; area 772 sq km/298 sq mi; population (1990) 287,500. Its capital is Sanford. The county is a popular holiday area. Its southwestern corner is just north of Orlando, and contains such communities as Altamonte Springs and Casselberry. Agricultural activity is concentrated in the east. The region is noted for its celery, and produces vegetables, citrus fruits, corn, livestock, and poultry.
