SerbLargest ethnic group in the former Yugoslavia, found mainly in Serbia, but also in the neighbouring independent republics of Montenegro, Bosnia-Herzegovina and Croatia. Their language is generally recognized to be the same as Croat and is hence known as Serbo-Croat. The Serbs are predominantly Greek Orthodox Christians and write in a Cyrillic script. Although they are closely related linguistically to the Croats, there are cultural differences and long-standing enmities, which resurfaced with the outbreak of civil war 1991. In the province of Kosovo, the Serbs have been in conflict with ethnic Albanians, who comprise the majority. How to thank TFD for its existence?
