infinite series

In mathematics, a series of numbers consisting of a denumerably infinite sequence of terms. The sequence n, n2, n3, ... gives the series n + n2 + n3 + ... . For example, 1 + 2 + 3 + ... is a divergent infinite arithmetic series, and 8 + 4 + 2 + 1 + 1/2 + ... is a convergent infinite geometric series that has a sum to infinity of 16.
