Serocki, Kazimierz (1922–1981)

Polish composer. He appeared in Europe as a pianist 1950–52, but later devoted himself to composition in a modernist idiom, including aleatory (random) devices.

He studied at Łódź and later with Nadia Boulanger 1947–48.

Works

Orchestral and choral

two symphonies (1952, 1953; second for soprano, baritone, chorus, and orchestra), Triptych for orchestra; piano concerto, trombone concerto; Symphonic Frescoes (1963); Dramatic Story for orchestra (1971); five pieces for orchestra (1976); choral music.

Ensemble

Episodes for strings and three percussion groups, Segmenti for chamber ensemble and percussion (1960); Ad Libitum, Pianophonie for piano and electronics (1978); chamber music.
