Servant, The

Film released in 1963, directed by Joseph Losey to a script by Harold Pinter. It was made in England in black and white, and follows the power-play between a wealthy young man (James Fox) and his scheming manservant (Dirk Bogarde) as the latter switches roles on his master. A keenly observed comment on the British class system, the film also addresses the frailty of the human condition and its spiritual bankruptcy.
