Settle| Market town in Ribblesdale, North Yorkshire, England, on the River Ribble, 26 km/16 mi from Skipton; population (2001) 2,400. There is a paper mill in the town. Settle dates from the 13th century. The surrounding limestone country has many caves and gorges, including Alum Pot, Gaping Gill, and Malham Tarn. |
