Seven Sages of Greece

Group of prominent Greeks, including Thales of Miletus, Solon of Athens, Bias of Priene, Chilon of Sparta (who brought back the bones of Orestes), Cleobulus of Rhodes, Periander of Corinth, and Pittacus of Mytilene. They were said to have had the maxims ‘Know thyself’ and ‘Nothing too much’ inscribed on the Temple of Apollo at Delphi.
