Severinsen, Doc

Severinsen, (Carl H) Doc (1927– )

US musician. A trumpeter, Severinsen worked in the big bands of Charles Barnet and Tommy Dorsey in the 1940s and 1950s. He became a staff musician at NBC in 1954, appeared in the series, The Subject Is Jazz in 1958, and became a sideman in the Tonight Show orchestra in 1962. From 1967 to 1992, he led the Tonight Show orchestra , and toured sporadically with his own orchestra.
