Shanklin

Resort on the southeastern coast of the Isle of Wight, England, 6 km/4 mi north of Ventnor; population (2001) 8,700. To the south is Shanklin Chine, a wooded fissure in the sandstone cliff, 55 m/180 ft wide and 91 m/300 ft deep.
