Yan Tan Tethera

Opera by Harrison Birtwistle; (text by Tony Harrison), written 1983–84 for television and first performed in London on 5 August 1986. In the story, the shepherd Alan arouses the jealousies of Caleb Raven, who causes Alan's wife Hannah and their twins to be imprisoned. They are released after seven years.
