Sheriffmuir

Locality and battleground in Stirling unitary authority, Scotland, on a northern slope of the Ochil Hills, about 5 km/3 mi northeast of Dunblane. It was the scene of the Battle of Sheriffmuir, an indecisive confrontation in 1715 between the Jacobites under the Earl of Mar and the Hanoverians led by the Duke of Argyll.
