Sherry, Louis (1856–1926)

US restaurateur. After working in hotels, Sherry opened his first New York City restaurant in 1881. The restaurant was renowned for its attention to detail and meticulous service, serving New York's elite until Prohibition in 1919. Sherry then worked in catering and confectionery.
