Shields, Carol (1935–2003)

US-born Canadian writer. Her book The Stone Diaries (1993) was short-listed for the Booker Prize and won the Pulitzer Prize in 1993. Her novel Larry's Party (1997) won the Orange Prize.

Her other novels include Swann (1990), Happenstance (1991), The Republic of Love (1992), and Unless (2002). She also published the short-story collections Various Miracles (1994) and Dressing Up for the Carnival (2000).
