Samuel (lived 11th century BC)

In the Old Testament, the last of the judges who ruled the ancient Hebrews before their adoption of a monarchy, and the first of the prophets; the two books bearing his name cover the story of Samuel and the reigns of kings Saul and David.

His translations of poetry by Eli Netzer and Shmu'el Shatal were published in the Summer/Fall 2003 issue.
Winkler, as well as his fellow poet Shmu'el Shatal, translated some of my own poems into Hebrew, came the revenge of the words: It was now my turn to send off frantic letters pleading for corrections and changes.
