Shoa

Former province in southern Ethiopia, now part of the Amhara and Oromo regions, and Addis Ababa metropolitan region. It is traversed by the Blue Nile, is partly mountainous, and produces oranges, bananas, and citrons, as well as gold and iron ore.

Shoa was an independent kingdom until its conquest by Theodore of Ethiopia in 1855.
