Shou-hsing

Chinese god of Long Life. He is one of a group of three gods of happiness, the other two being the god of Happiness, Fu-hsing, and the god of Salaries, Lu-hsing. Shou-hsing is the best known because longevity is the greatest blessing in China.

He is depicted with an exceptionally high brow and bald head, leaning on a stick or riding a fawn, and holding a peach which symbolizes immortality.

Shou-hsing is the keeper of death records and decides the date of death of all humans. His name is identical with the Chinese name for the bright star Canopus, and it is thought that when the star cannot be seen calamities will occur.
