Shriver, Loren James (1944– )

US astronaut. His three space shuttle flights include the April 1990 mission made by Discovery to deploy the Hubble Space Telescope. Shriver was selected as an astronaut in 1978, becoming deputy director of Launch and Payload Processing at NASA's Kennedy Space Center in 1997. He logged more than 386 hours in space before leaving NASA.
