Shue, Elizabeth (1963– )

US film actor. After a string of ‘girl next door’ roles in films such as Adventures in Babysitting (1987) and the second and third films in the Back to the Future series (1989 and 1990), she starred in the critically acclaimed Leaving Las Vegas (1995), receiving an Academy Award nomation for best actress.

She made her acting debut while she was a university student, appearing in US television commercials and later in the television programme Call to Glory (1984). Her feature film debut was in the popular family drama The Karate Kid (1984). Her other films include Cocktail (1988), Soapdish (1991), Blind Justice (1994), The Saint (1997), Deconstructing Harry (1997), Cousin Bette (1998), Molly (1999), Hollow Man (2000), and Hide and Seek (2005).
