Shultz, George Pratt (1920– )

US Republican politician, economics adviser to President Reagan 1980–82, and secretary of state 1982–89. Shultz taught as a labour economist at the University of Chicago before serving in the 1968–74 Nixon administration. His posts included secretary of labour 1969–70 and secretary of the Treasury 1972–74.
