Siamese cat

Breed of domestic shorthaired cat originating in Thailand. Siamese were imported into Britain in the 1880s and into the USA shortly afterwards. It has large pointed ears on a wedge-shaped head, blue eyes, and a long, slender body. In the Seal-point, the original and most popular variety, the fur is cream with dark brown ears, face, tail, legs, and feet. There are now many varieties.

Developed from a Siamese mutant, the Balinese differs from the original only in the length of its coat, which is long. It appeared first in the USA in the late 1940s and recognized there in 1970.
