The oil subsidiary of the world's biggest gas company Gazprom has won control of London-listed Russian oil producer Sibir Energy after taking over one of its shareholders, the press said.
Byline: MOSCOW: Gazprom Neft, Russia's No 5 oil producer, wants to raise its stake in Sibir Energy to as much as 30 per cent, Gazprom's broker said, prompting renewed speculation of a takeover approach.
Henry Cameron, is chief executive of Sibir Energy, who claim they were cheated out of their 50 per cent stake of a Russian oil field by Sibneft, the firm Abramovich sold to Russia's state oil firm Gazprom.
