Siboni, Erik (Anton Valdemar) (1828–1892)

Danish pianist, organist, and composer of Italian origin. He taught music at Copenhagen and was professor at the Royal Academy at Sorø 1864–83.

He studied at Copenhagen, where his teachers included J P E Hartmann, and with Ignaz Moscheles and Moritz Hauptmann at Leipzig. He fought on the Danish side in the war of Schleswig-Holstein in 1848. In 1851–53 he continued his studies with Simon Sechter in Vienna. After his return to Copenhagen he settled as a music teacher, among his pupils being Princess Alexandra.

Works Opera Loreley (1859) and Carl den Andens Flugt (1861).

Choral Psalm 111, Stabat Mater, cantatas The Battle of Murten and The Assault of Copenhagen for solo voices, chorus, and orchestra.

Orchestral and chamber two symphonies and other orchestral works; piano concerto (1864), string quartets; songs.
